Some years ago I was able to order bulk strings from a company called Euphonon (might be spelled wrong) they were listed in Bluegrass Unlimited...I can`t find them on the web, does anyone know if the still exist and if so, how to get in touch with them? Thanks ....Willie http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

They don't seem to have a web page, but they show up in a few recent pages, in Google: PO Box 100, Orford, NH 03777. (888) 517-4678

Walter Lipton. Glauber's phone number is the same I have. I bought some ivoroid sheets from him a few months ago. As I understand, he had been selling some binding materials but was getting out of that business. Nice man.

I just made a large order from Euphonon a couple of months ago. I'd be very sorry to see them disappear. Best prices, by more that just a little bit, for the things they had that I've ever found online (Bulk guitar, mandolin and banjo strings, Schaller tuners, ebony bridge pins/end pins, etc.) . For some time, I haven't even called them to place an order - just wrote out a list, tallied it up, and enclosed a check, and received my stuff in a week or so.

Thanks folks...I did finally find them on the web and called them...All they sell is medium gauge with a .014 A string and I don`t think I want to go that light but I do have some .014 gauge A strings laying around somewhere that I use on my old Lyon and Healy and I`ll try some on my mando and see if they do alright and if so I`ll get me a dozen sets because I remember years ago I was happy with their strings...Don`t know who makes them though...Thanks again....Willie

Willie - sorry, I should have mentioned that. They do sell 0.016 loop-end (banjo) steel strings, if you like that guage for your A string. I use 14s on my oval hole mandos, and usually 15s from somewhere else on my f-hole mandos.
