I developed a buzz on my Gibson A9 when the open E string is played. Very metallic sounding, very slight. Fretted notes don't buzz. Neck does have very mild relief. I haven't messed with the neck, but did raise the action and it's still there. The metal cover on the loop ends of the strings does not appear loose. HELP?

I would take the tailpeice cover off and see what happens. If it is still buzzing, check the string posts and the bridge. Or maybe even the truss rod and truss rod cover. Hopefully it's one of those.

I am not a luthier by an stretch--but this has frequently happened to me. #Most likely it is a "burr" or other irregularity in your nut or bridge slot. #Could be in the part of the slot that angles down to the tuning pegss or tailpiece. #
You might be able to fix this by gently filing or sawing the slots (especially the downward angle part) or by sliding a piece of fine sandpaper folded through them. #You don't want to remove material----just the burr if it is indeed there.
Or have a luthier look at it---this is a simple repair.

try sticking a pc. of thin paper under the string in the nut slot. see if buzz goes away. at least that way you can find it w/o filing or anything. cold also be the slot on the saddle, (same temporary fix).
