yea............got Larry Rice's cd yesterday.....it rocks.

Packing this week-end, and leaving Monday for Homerecording.com jamfest in Andover Conn. This will be my fourth year there, and I'm really looking forward to it. I know it's not the usually music most here would put up with, but the folks are the greatest. There's acoustic picking on the outskirts, a singer/songwriter circle which will be acoustic, and the rest is electric, with a contingent this year, that will do a heavy metal set of tunz they have planned since last year. And I'll be joining in on a few with the mando for sure. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

A week of partying, music, and fellowship. Sounds like home to me.

Have fun...bring your earplugs for the Death Metal tunes. I've visited the sight, and the people on there are pretty helpful. I learned a lot of things that have made my recordings more noise-free. I might even check out the jamfest, but I live in San Diego--just a bit of a drive. Another thought: it's discouraging to see/ hear so many metalheads. That's the only type of music you see classifieds for out here. It's hard to hook up with musicians with similar tastes/ interests when all of the ads say, "Must have the look, chops, and gear and play in drop D tuning. Influences are Metallica, Slayer, Defiled Carcass, Headless Torso, Spontaneous Abortion..." etc.

I agree on both thoughts. Homerecording.com and recordingproject.com are where to go if you're into home recording. Their off color forums are kinda weird, but their gear forums are really helpful. And having meet personally about 50 or so of these folks makes it even more fun.

As to the metal heads, well, what can you say. I guess you defend their right to play any music they want. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Personally, they can have it.

I hope one day I'll be able to catch one of the many gatherings that are planned from this site. And as said before.....anything mando wise, and this is the place.
