I sent a question to Godin guitars about the A8 mandolin back in July 7th, 2003. I just got a response a couple of days ago.

here's the reply with the original question:
Hi,
Sorry for the long delay...
The A8 mandolin is not available with synth-access, and we don't do any
customized work. Also, adding more electronics in your mandolin might alter
it's tone, so it's not recommended.

possible to set it up for MIDI use and what would be the recommended method
for this and/or least expensive options.
