I am thinking of getting a satellite radio service. As far as I know there is Sirius and XM and I guess there may be others I am not aware of. Any opinions on which is the best both from a service point of veiw and a music content perspective? Which one has better bluegrass programming?

I work for GM, so I am biased, but I really do think that the XM is better. #It is under $10 a month and they are constantly adding 4 or 5 stations a month without raising the prices! #Also, since it is set to become standard equipment in GM vehicles over the next coulple of years XM will most likely end up buying Sirius or putting them under. #Plus I've never been anywhere that my XM would not receive a signal!

As far as programming goes they have 1 pure Bluegrass station that is fabulous and about 3 more that play Old Tyme , Americana and other stuff that is kissin' cousins to Bluegrass.

I LOVE my Sirius! Bluegrass, folk, jam - band channels, as well as olde-time radio shows, weather, news, all the hockey games, and the comedy channel! What sold me was their $150 (after $50 rebate) home 2 car kit where I can bring my unit in and out of the car. Check out the website www.rusirius.com to get a comparison of the two. Way up here in the mountains of Colorado only the tunnels leave my radio silent, canyons, Denver city, and passes are no worries. I think both are great companies, with great service, and the stock price on Sirius bears some looking into...
Besides, I've gotta love a company named after the Dogstar, the brightest star in the sky!

I got my wife XM for her car for Christmas, and we love it. The reception is not perfect---parking garages will knock it out, and driving between two high rock walls has interrupted the signal too.

The bluegrass station is good, though I think they have a more limited playlist than I would like. My favorite is Hank's Place, all classic honky tonk.

I have had XM for about a year and am very happy with it. #It has 101 stations but I hardly listen to anything but the bluegrass channel. It is great around town and especially on a trip. #I bought the player that has the removable unit rather than the one built into the radio. #The removable unit slides out and goes into the $70 extra "boom box" type of receiver in my house and I slip it into the indoor unit like you would an audio tape. #It has it's own antenna and then I have XM in the home. #One of the best electronic investments I have made. OK Thanks guys, sounds like they are both pretty good which is good because I get home from work on Friday to find my wife has already bought the Sirius. I think she went for the home/car feature.
