Isn't it interesting, though, that this level of instruments keeps showing up, used? One would think that once you buy one of these, you're set... What could people possibly be moving up to?

Or maybe it's buyer's remorse because they're not all they had hoped they'd be for that kind of $$$. At least we won't have that problem with our MidMos. ;)

It's usually cause someone has multiple mandolins and wants to free up some bucks, has upgraded to a different mandolin, or a mandolin they've had their eye on is now available and they're cleaning house to get it. In the case of the Kimble, Sean has said in past ads that he just took delivery of a new Kimble and is selling that one to pay for it. Mike Delay (the Bentrup) enjoys mandolins and is always buying, selling, trading.

There have been threads like this in the past--the questioning of people's motives in selling high end mandolins. Fact is, high end mandolins are bought and sold just like low end and mid-grade one's. You keep buying and selling until you find the mandolin that fits your taste and personality, regardless of it's dollar value

And, I bet, we'll see your mid-mo in the classifieds at some point! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It ain't about the mandolin, it's about the Do-Re-Me! There are some incredible mandolins available at a fraction of that price. Show me the $$$! Oh, uh my Mid-Mo should arrive tomorrow or Wed. - show me the Music!!!

Maybe certain mandolin players are like golfers?

Golfers spend thousands of dollars trying to find the clubs that make them play like Mickelson or Tiger.

Are some trying to buy talent?

I don't have any talent. So, if someone has some talent #for sale, I'll bite!

Jim: As usual, you make valid points. I have a number of hobbies and limited income(like most of us). So, when things need to rotate, I pick something that needs to go. In this case one of my F5s goes to make room for a Cannondale I've been wanting. After watching three weeks of the Tour, I had to have it--you guys know the urge! Anyway, I'll regret selling the Brentrup but still have a couple of very nice mandolins to play. Many reasons to buy and sell--probably at least one for each member here.

You guys talking about my Kimble?? Yes, I did have another Kimble come in, a two point. But it is paid for and that is not why I am selling. I just moved and had a TON of work done on my new house. On top of that, my sewer AND water lines went bad last week! Had to tear out all my brand new sod and sprinkler system to replace. Now my large sycamore tree has turned yellow and is losing all of it's leaves (dying / majorly stressed from having to many roots ripped out?). My wife and I are convinced the house is cursed. At any rate, I would love to keep the Kimble, but having two at this time just doesn't make sense. People have many motives for selling mandolins, every individual is different. I know I sure bought and sold at least a dozen before getting bit by the Kimble bug.

No slight intended in any way with this thread. I love to buy and sell probably more than the next guy. I just get way too tempted seeing all these great, high end mandos up for sale at one time!

Perhaps, some day, Jim - like the day when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers! #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
