I bought a music theory book. What a zoo at the book store! I didn't get out of there until after 1:00 AM. My book wasn't the problem; my nine year old daughter wanted the new Harry Potter at the first possible moment. Unfortunately, other people had been there much longer at their possible moments came before ours. They had about 10 registers ringing up roughly $20 (or multiples thereof) sales non stop for about an hour and a half when we left (with her copy, of course). Anybody else at one of these? There were activities, but the main one was sitting and looking at the wild costumes people wore.

I got "Music theory Made Easy" by David Harp. I know a lot of theory, but it's been piecemeal and/or learned long ago, so I figured a short version would be a good refresher. It is one with a stated aim of making you comfortable jamming.

We were at our local Barns & Noble, and waited with over 1000 other people to get our copy. Numbered wrist bands, count down, potter look alike contests. It was standing room only, and shoulder to shoulder in this store.

Next year, we order one on the net.

My girlfriend is picking mine up right now. I know I'm with the right lady because she volunteered for the chore.

I'd like to hear what people think of the novel once everyone starts making some headway.

We were in the supermarket today and walked past a display of the new Potter book. Bought one at $25 Canadian. We looked into an advanced copy at Chapters a couple of weeks ago at $35. No lineup and we got the next to last one!

The really sad thing is that I could have left at midnight and stopped at a 24 hour grocery store and picked it up. They had people waiting, but supposedly less than 15 minutes.

Glad some people are buying books, but why not buy the book for something other than one of the chain stores! I'll give Rawlings credit, though; at lest Harry Potter is available in the smaller stores too. Sometimes they cut the small dealers out.

The other great novel? If you're over 15 years old you gotta go with John Irving all the way don't you?

Sure does. Harry and the Potters (http://www.eskimolabs.com/hp/joe.htm).

(Having now listened to one of their mp3s, I wouldn't recommend it to anybody else. They're dire.)

Ordered it from Amazon a few weeks ago. Got it in the mail when the post came at 1:30 PM. No hassle at all.
