I've had this fern for about 8 months now. I've got finger problems so I left the action down quite a bit from how I use to play. this AM I jacked the bridge WAY up. It's like a different mandolin. the bass is still there but it really brings out the trebles on it. You ought to try it if you haven't. It does make it harder to play. I'll prob let it back down to help my fingers.

I just went thru the opposite of that...at Wintergrass every mandolin I played had way lower action than mine so when I got home I lowered it a ton and was amazed at how easy it played, etc., but after a few days it just seemed to be missing something so back up it went. The most notable changes were a slight decrease in volume and my inability to dig in without a buzzin on my G & D strings but mostly it just seemed to lose the "power to cut" aspect. Kinda hard to explain but altho it's not as high as it was I won't be going any lower with it.:)

I love the sound but i'm not sure my finger can handle a whole weekend of it
