View Full Version : Wolfstone and Seven Nations
Not sure if there is any mandolin content in this. #I was looking at the calendar for a local (Northern VA) venue and notice the Wolfstone and Seven Nations show.
Other than Simon Mayer's Celtic Mandolin CD, I know almost nothing about the genre. #Can anyone offer any insight?

I've got Seven Nations self-title CD. No mando content (they use the fiddle instead), but a nice opportunity to hear the highland bagpipes in a celtic rock setting. #Definitely rock-oriented, and I like it.

Wolfstone is also a rock band (bordering on heavy metal) that happens to play music with a Scottish flavor. I have their first two albums and my daughter has a later live album. I like it, but don't recall them using mandolins.

Not sure what the current Wolfstone lineup is but their long time front Ivan Drever is a superb cittern player - he had a very old Sobell. The couple of times I saw Wolfstone there were no mando family instruments at all - but great celtic headbanging with amps turned up to 11.

I saw Wofstone at the Dublin (OH) Irish Festival last year. Pipes, fiddle, electric guitar, electric bass guitar, drum kit, and nothing resembling mandolin.

Seven Nations sound great from what I have heard in the past on the radio. I think they are from the US and in the Charlotte,NC area.
Thanks for the info. #I didn't really expect mandolin. #I just mentioned it to keep the thread appropriate to the board.
