I think summer is a busy, busy time for most of us. Participation began to drop as summer neared. Even the local jams almost die out in the summer months. I think when fall gets here, the thread will gain a new life. Craig also seeems really busy. I believe Dr. is in his title so that is understandable. I know he asked for help once with the logistics of posting tunes. I hope the project doesn't die out for lack on interest.

Better go learn Angeline! Dan

Yeah, I understand Craig is very busy. Even with RN as the title I'm very busy myself, even if I don't have even half of that awful work schedule that the doctors have.
I hope people will come back and want the project to start again. I don't think others than moderators can start polls at Yahoo, otherwise i would do it to get this thing going.
Can't wait to hear your Angeline, Plinker! Maybe I should work on mine too.

sorry y'all. working 100 hours a week (no joke) and the person i care the most about is seriously ill. needless to say, got no time. i'm going to be away for some time. would love it if some other HTML savvy person could maintain things for me while i'm away. i'll continue to supply the funds to keep the mainpage going, though. e-mail me if you think you are up to it.

miss you all

cheers,

craig

Thanks for replying Craig! I know you're busy. Suz, I'm related to a PNP, so I know the demands of the medical profession. Take time, get your masters!!! I've not posted Angeline, because I know some of the constraints of the Project. We open with Angeline, so maybe I'll post a practice session of 'Better Late' playing the tune. I'm starting to wonder where the O'Brien tag line came from. Tim's sister lives in town, and of course Tim visits the area frequently. Back when 'Hot Rize' was the biggest thing in the States and internationally, he was here all the time. Our ex-dobro-guitar-bass player grew up in the same town as Tim. Now a Swedish RN who loves Ireland thinks the world of Tim O'Brien? Some people remember him as the 'red haired kid that use to sit in the corner and listen.' Small world the internet. Hope the project returns!

Back in the day...Dan

Hello All,

I've volunteered to look after things,so we can keep things going while Craig is away.

With that being said, there are two new and very cool versions of Angeline the Baker posted by poppamando and collings470; a new and very cool version of Cattle in the Cane from our very own Swedish Nurse; and a new miscellaneous musing, posted on the website.

What are you guys interested in doing for the month of August? Do you want to learn a new tune or post newer versions of past tunes for a comparison of sorts?

Lemme know what you think,
Rob

Way to step up there, Rob! #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif #Thanks.

How's about "the Swede" calls one out? #
Or she could put a few tunes in the hat for another poll? #

Hope your partner pulls thru Craig.

I'm game for just about anything.

I've learned a couple songs since we haven't been doing this. And it wasn't Angeline. Soldier's Joy and Red Haired Boy. Beginner styles but hey, do what ya can when ya are getting started. Right? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Hi folks!
The Swedish nurse is back. I've been away in vacation (dancing and playing music all the time). Very happy welcoming to see the project being alive again. Craig, I'm sorry to hear about your partner. I'll be thinking of her in my prayers. And yeah, I understand you must have those working hours. Our doctors have the same.

If you ask me, I'd love to learn some Irish tune or a certain Finnskogspolska I don't know the name of, or "Hur hin spelte på Skara orgelverk" (I visited a Swedish folk dance festival and I'm learning to play the fiddle so there's lots of Swedish trad music in my head right now). I see the poll is up now and I've voted for Off to California. Don't even know if it's Irish or not but I have it in one of my Irish tune books.

Hey, plinker, say hello to Tim for me if you see him. He was in Europe this spring or if it was last year but I didn't had the time nor the money to go. I think he'll be in Denmark for a folk music festival this autumn but I think it's now in August and I don't have any money to go since I bought high quality dancing shoes last week.

He does everything best and he mixes the best music styles (bluegrass, oldtime, Irish and blues). Wonderful!
Anyway, about the tag line, you just change it on your profile page.

It's great to be back on the project! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
