I have 2 Cole mandolins, his #68 and his #107 a new one just finished. I've also owned two others that Ron Cole made and all 4 mandolins were great, and a definate bargain for the price of $4,000 that he's asking now. I know this isn't your low end mandolin but the instrument you're getting is a very high quality, extremely great toned mandolin, better than the $10.000 ones I've tried. I would have kept all 4 of the mandolins except I couldn't afford to and when I found #68 it just fit my hand so well and plays so loud with that great woody chop to it that I can have the action low and still get plenty of power out of the instrument. Now #107 came along and it's so powerful right now, brand new, that I can only imagine what it's going to play into down the road. Anyway for anyone out there who's looking for a high end mandolin I'd definatly recommend giving one of Coles mandolins a try. The playablity and beautiful tone are unbelievable. His workmanship on the finishwork and the georgeous woods he's using are just the icing on the cake. I had my #68 over in Seattle at Folk Life a few years back and a person standing outside the jam circle listening to us came right up to me and asked about what kind of mandolin I was playing as it clearly stood out of the crowd in tone. Anyway I found Ron Cole to be very helpful in personally helping me with just what I was looking for in my mandolins. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif
