I'm looking for public domain MP3 or a transcription of "The shearing's not for you".
Any ideas?

I'm not familiar with this tune but would this be the one you are talking about?

It looks like it's just a midi file but the standard notation is there.

This might be a good chance to repeat the motto of the Digital Tradition (http://sniff.numachi.com/~rickheit/dtrad/): "Don't look for songs without it". If you're looking for words or tune of a folk song, always try the DT first; if you're looking for a traditional tune other than songs, always try ABC Tune Finder (http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/music/abc/FindTune.html) first.

I'll play this tune as done by Hilary James and Simon Mayor sometime in the next hour or two on WGCS - the Globe. (http://globeradio.org)

The Hillary James version was actually the one I was looking for.
Interestingly enough, I heard it on one of the local college radio stations. But I missed it on your show.

The air for "The Shearin" is actually the same as the air for the better-known "Kelvingrove", and I think you'd have more chance of finding that. in fact, I've just found it on my web site at
http://www.nigelgatherer.com/tunes/tab/tab8/kelvg.html - see what you think!

Why hello Martin - you survived the mandolin residential, then! Yes, I have just installed broadband, so I'm enjoying discovering what you're all talking about in here!

I not only survived but put myself through the BMG residential with Alison at Burton Manor in June, too. Great fun all around, and doing wonders for my playing. Looking forward to next year's course!
