Hey there Folks,

I was away this past week and have been going through Cafe Withdrawals for a while. #I'm glad to be back on again.

I just spent the last three days driving from New Jersey to Texas. #I had a lot of time to listen to and ponder upon the new Allison Kraus CD available at Cracker Barrel.

I have always loved Allison Kraus and Union Station but my review kind of pains me so here it goes:

All of the songs are great!!! # However two major complaints:

- The CD has only two, yes only two songs that feature the mandolin. #Sam Bush does make an appearance on Song #5 and Song #8, Dan ( the guitar player) plays mando.

- The CD is only 35 minutes long. #

Will I toss the CD? #Absolutely NOT.

P.S. I have to say that their version of "Man of constant Sorry" live was pretty good.

Did anyone else pick up the CD? #If you did, I'd love to hear some feedback?

Thanks,

Ken Berner

Hi Keith, I think a bunch of us bashed this one pretty hard a while back, due to the obvious lack of mandolin output. With a picker like "Dapper Dan" onboard, AKUS could feature him to good advantage. I like what this band does, have all of their CDs, and have seen them on three occasions. I really would like to hear much more mandolin and maybe just a tad less dobro!

Ken,

You're right!!! #I kind of remember this awhile ago. #Sorry to re-hash old subjects. #It slipped my mind.

I would also agree. #

Speaking of the lack of Mandolin, What's the story with their mandolin player?

I remember a while back someone posted in a classified ad somewhere that they wanted to learn the mandolin so they could join AK and Union Station.

Inquiring minds want to know... #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Alison Krauss is on her own again? Did she lose her job as a back-up singer for Shania Twain? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
