As a music-loving business traveller, I seem to make a career of leaving town the day before something good is happening, or arriving the day after.
Shining exception being Andy Irvine.
I caught him (unplanned) twice on separate 3-day visits to NZ, once in a tiny folk club in New Plymouth, and once w/Rens v.d. Zalm in the Irish Club in Auckland.
But now he has let me down.
I arrived in Stavanger, Norway, last night and decided to work late and turn in early.
Tonight I wander downtown for a beer (after first arranging a mortgage with my bank manager for the purpose :-) and I see that Andy was playing here last night.
Oh well, REM are playing here tomorrow night so perhaps I'll see Peter Buck in the lobby and get to show him how to tune a mandolin.
