I feel like a kid with a new toy, like I posted earlier I`m new to mandolin having played guitar for getting on 40 years but I feel newly inspired,I`m discovering different chord inversions, new tones, the joys of tuning(!)and sore fingers!!
The only problem I foresee is that having gone through the various(and expensive)stages of GAS,I can see MAS coming on!
Oh,and I really like the feel of this forum, friendly, supportive and non judgemental.
You see before you a happy guy!

Welcome, folks. I haven't been on the Cafe long, but it's a spectacular resource full of great folks, and they can tell you everything you need to know.

And we all understand about being captivated by this little instrument. Welcome aboard!

I'm with you guy. I have been a guitar player since the early 60's and played mandolin on and off during that period. I play bass in church services now and I'm starting to incorporate Mandolin into our Worship. I don't even pickup my guitar anymore. I can't get enough of the Mandolin.
As far as MAS goes, play all the Mandolins you can to get a feel for what you like then go out and buy the best you can afford. Nothing wrong with owning a few, maybe a couple of old beaters and a nice high end model for when you are looking your Sunday best. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/coffee.gif
