John McEwen's Mandolin?

Saw the NGDB play last night. We were up in the balcony so I could not make out what kind of Mandolin John McEwen was playing. It looked like it may have lost an ear from the headstock and had a well worn spot on the top.

I believe it is an old Givens. Has the peghead scroll missing like Monroe's Gibson did before Gibson repaired it.
