Well I was playing the new Rose last night on stage...looked down on the floor and there laid one of the screws that hold the tuner button on the shaft of the new Gibson Grover tuners...I put it back in...only to find another one had disappeared...gone lost. Ive emailed Big Joe twice and havent gotten back a reply...does anybody know where I can get one? an email addy to Grover would be most useful...thanks

I lost one once on one of my Gibsons, and went to an #authorized Gibson Warranty luthier. #Low and behold! #There they were! #Searching for an authorized Gibson Warranty Luthier used to be on the Gibson website. #This is after I broke the original, had an optimolgist remove the old, then had a gunsmith replace the new... long story...
Now where is that dang screw... Dan (Adams) No relation...

Scotti, hobby shops usually carry a pretty good assortment of small screws, maybe you can get one that matches up until you can get an exact replacement from Gibson.

But only Genuine Gibson parts are good enough...tee hee

I also had lost a screw from the tuners. They are slightly different from regular Grover buttons as they have a flange on them. That's kind of like a flat washer thats permanently attached. I contacted Bigjoe and Charlie about me loosing one and could I get a couple but never heard back from them.

Yeah. #Tee hee.
Actually, hobby shops don't carry screws. #Go to yer local hardware store, fellas...
I think that's a commom malady with screw-in-the-button machines. Same thing happened with my Waverly tuners, happened to be at IBMA, so I had Don Macrostie use some non-permanent glue on the threads and all has been well. Joe will be back to you, he's good about that.

Scotti--I emailed Grover about it. I'll let you know if they tell me anything. I know the tuner button screw issue was one I had repeatedly w/ the Gotohs--
da%n things never wanted to stay tight.

Was emailed back by someone at Grover who said he'd happily send out a screw. I told him I wrote the email for you and gave him your email. I CC'd the email to you so you have his email address as well. Write him, give him your address, and he'll send you one.
If you didn't get the email, let me know, and I'll forward it to you again.

Lest anyone bust a gut on this, we have recieved the requests and are waiting on screws to arrive from Grover. We carry no backstock on these, however, that is changing as soon as they arrive http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif .
For buttons with screws, whether they be Waverly, Grover, or Gotoh, it is good to put a small dot of loctite on the screw when you put the screw in. These will all come loose with time and vibration. Believe it or not, your mandolin actually vibrates quite a bit. I think that is a good thing. Anyway another fix is to use a very small drop of super glue. I hate saying that because I have visions of fingers glued to tuner buttons or maybe your buick or http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif Anyway, the loctite is a better solution.

Heed Big Joe's warning on the super glue. I once glued a piece of a toy to my finger trying to repair my son's fav. airplane. Fingernail polish remover will help disolve it but I had nightmares or going to the ER. the residue of the glue stayed on my fingers for a couple of weeks.

I would like to extend a special thank you to Jim R. and Dale L. #...with your guys help..thru Email and land line I was able to secure two screws..at no charge..directly thru Grover...Now..dont take this wrong..but Im wondering why the folks at Gibson cant get the same service as an average Joe like me..as I did today....a couple of emails..one phone call to make sure the order was right...and the screws are in the mail...I guess Im not in tune to big business... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I've corresponded with Chuck and Robert Berger (pres) at Grover and they've both been very good. FYI, the ebony button project is still in the experimental stage with them; they are experienceing some cracking with protos and are continuing to work on it-this info from Rober Berger last week.

Scotti,
I had the same problem with the screws falling out on my tuners.
Suggestion do ALL of the screws with the lock tite as there is a good chance the others will become loose also on you.
