BG Band Contest Last Night

Excellent BG Band Contest last night in Statesville NC.

Good turnout. Some 'scary' young players too.

IMO, the best band was "Common Ground" from Concord NC.

Mandolin player was great.

I believe the MC said he is from Lexington NC,
but didn't catch the name.

Anyone know this mando player?

Yeah-Was a good show. Common Ground is a great group.
I was the " old man" with the 12 yr. old b*njo picker,who won the most promising talent. He's a great mandolin and guitar player. Sit down. This is his fifth week on the b*njo.(Dalton Cranford) Also in the same band were a couple of 18 yr. olds (guitar & bass) that were wonderful!

The M.C. is Tim Perry of Statesville. (Perry's Auction & Bluegrass Barn) His son, Daniel won second most promising on mandolin. He is 10 or 11 and had world famous guitarist, Joey Hall in his band. I sat beside Joey at the end of the show. Heck! Should've got his autograph.
Don't know the mandolin player's name from Common Ground, but I'm pretty sure he took first place.
