my mother once sang an old irish tune, which she apparently learned from her fourth grade teacher nigh on 40 years ago... I put it into tabledit with great difficulty(it switched time signatures a bit) and sent it in for them to put on mandozine hopefully soon...
anywho... it called "sweet and green" i suppose and the lyrics are as folow:
Sweet and Green and shaped like a heart,
across the sea, it grows in the dew
and i shall, ever we part,
the first i find i send to you.
i'm sure this are more verses but thats all she can remember, along with the tune (with which the words fit nicely... does anyone know of this tunes origin ect? if so, any other verses,or do i have an extinct song on my hands???
I wouldn't bother otherwise but it's kind of a special tune in my family and a pretty tune at that.
thank you so much in advance................John
