I came home today to find my new MF5 waiting for me. I did not exspect it today and thought it would take a few more weeks since it was coming from the factory. WOW now I know why there are so many happy MF5 owners out there. No need for a report it's all true what others here have said, every word of it! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif #http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Didn't you just get a Cedar top Weber ?

The Weber Cedar was fantastic but the neck was to wide for my hands.

So Rick, the Cedar Weber is too wide for you. Does it need a new home?

It's back at Greg Boyds.

For anyone with MF5 envy, I just posted an excellent one to the classifieds, just 3 months old. Bought an MF5 deluxe varnished model...
One suggestion to Tone Monster -- try a Tone-Gard on your new MF5 if you haven't already. It does great things for the sound (although it's a tight fit in the Collings case).

i'll second the tonegard suggestion. & a wegan 1.5 is the only thing else you'll need

I do have a Wegan 1.5 and agree with that.

And here I'm stuck with a Wegen 1.4 (tri-cornered with holes). Guess I'll have to try a 1.5... But at least we agree on MF5's http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Rick,
Congratulations on your new mandolin! I'm very pleased to hear about your new acquisition. Mostly because I'm going to beg and whine until you let me play it next time I see you!
That Cedar topped Weber has been on my mind since I played it. Too bad I've got all my money tied up in a bespoke mandola, or I'd be on the phone right now with Boyd's.
