View Full Version : Just an apology!

I do apologize to BigJoe and to any other people at Gibson that feel I was wrong in posting what I did. #I know that BigJoe has helped me out tremendously there and I am thankful for what he had done. #I was just VERY frustrated with the results and just because I voiced that doesn't make me the butt hole. #You guys can form you own opinion and that is okay but I am tired of taking your comments personally. #You don't know the whole story and you shouldn't speculate on it and criticize me for posting it. #Like I have already stated: #If you think you NEED to know the situation then just PM and I will gladly give you my phone # to talk about it but I would appreciate you not posting BS about me. #BigJoe and Gibson do rock and I do love them!

Jeremy, I'm sorry you've had such a tough time with all of this. All of us have reacted to bad situations in ways we've regretted later, and it takes a man to apologize. Hang in there, man. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Dude they will work it out. They been building them thar mando-lynns for quite a spell now.Bang away on that Hogo and forget the Bush till you get it back.Could be worse ya know----that Bush could be the only mandolin you own!! Lp
Its probably just my warped way of looking at things but it seems a little strange to post a message on a discussion forum and then get upset when people discuss.

Gettin the intended tone out of a mando can be challenging.
Getting the intended tone out of a forum posting can be darn near impossible.
Perhaps we're all reading more angry downstrokes into your postings than you intended. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I just got in from Nashville and while I was there I took my Bush model by for Dave Harvey to set up and I have got to tell you guys that I am thoroughly impressed with him. I have never been able to find anyone that could set my mando up like he just did! It is like I have a brand new mando and he did everything I asked for perfectly and the sound and playability are unbelievable! No financial interest of course but if any of you guys have a mando that needs setting up I would definitely contact Dave regardless of what brand of mando it is. He is now number one in my book.

I can elaborate for Jeremy...anything and everything that needed to be done to make sure it played at its optimum ability. Dave is an artist in his own right and knows more about mandolin than most people do about anything. You can reach him through me. His work station is 50 feet from my desk. I will be happy to answer any questions or set up appointments. Thank you.
joe.vest@gibson.com
is why you've received such criticism. "It is like I have a brand new mando and he did everything I asked for perfectly and the sound and playability are unbelievable!" Your very own words, followed a few days later by your astonishing and irresponsible criticism of Gibson (and hounding of Big Joe after hours). I think that we should all pitch in and buy Big Joe a new cellphone plan and number.
Here's a suggestion for your own good, Jeremy. The more you post on this matter, the worse it gets. Just stop until you have your mandolin back, and then post the following:
"Just got my mandolin back from Gibson. Dave Harvey's work is miraculous. Big Joe and Charlie D have once again set the gold standard for customer service. I deeply apologize for my irresponsible postings, and will now shut up and play my mandolin for a few weeks."

C'mon folks, let's just let Jerremy apologize! There is no requirement for him to be thrilled and complimentary at the end of the process either fer cryin' out loud.

(Putting on Moderator Hat...)
Guys & Gals, this might also be a good lesson in "Less is More."
The less you set yourself up for criticism by posting frequent, intense emotion-laden content, the more likely you are to avoid being picked off by those who enjoy seeing you fall.
Sometimes it *IS* actually better to occupy your fingers with frets and pick, rather than a computer keyboard. We could all do with a better strategy of widening the gap between when we think, and when we actually type our thoughts...
Ted and Dan,
I love the way you guys manage this place!
Mike
Amen to what Ted said...I have found myself NOT posting after having typed something when I went back and read it. i still ask a ton of questions and y'all have been great...but "Rant and Raves" might be a Topic header for this sort of thing, so others can just learn.
Oops..."just learn" I meant just learn more about the mandolin and we could avoid the flamming...

And while I'm in my cranky mood (and violating one of my own guidelines...) let me add one observation:
I get up early every morning, about 4:30 Central (US) time. It's my favorite time of the day, but most of my (infrequent) moderator custodial responsiblities are from posts that have occured around the midnite hour(s) in the U.S. time zones. I do most of the "sweeping" when I get up...
This leads me to the conclusion that collectively, our worst oratory indiscretions occur sometime midpoint between sundown and sunrise. Perhaps another self-imposed guideline would be to hold thoughts in our head until the sun comes up. If these thoughts remain, they are probably mature, credible, and edifying to the community.
I'm not advocating a curfew; yet this would also be a helpful civic policy for those of us with quick tempers (myself included) to type AFTER a good night's rest.

That's the first time I've actually laughed out loud at a Cafe post in, well, several days anyway.
I'm still laughing.
Ah, yes...we all tend to get quite prolific as the evening wears on, don't we?
Guilty as charged. And admonishments well deserved here.
So...how 'about them Yankees!

for whatever it's worth, i've found (through painful experience) that it's best to furiously type whatever spews out of your brain/guts/heart and then save it as a draft or to your notepad. #go back to it a few hours later and you'll likely tone it down a bit. #sometimes it feels good to just let it out.

There is a really nice feature here called "preview post". #It's just next to the "add reply". #I always use it in order to try and find spelling/gramatical errors. #
And once in a while it helps me detect (and then edit) a lousy post.

I've been posting here for a while, long enough to have seen three different incarnations of this board. I have largely avoided such emotional outbursts and subsequent derision...well...because I am a robot.

OK, Jeremy.....NOW you finally made it to my bad list. Not a cowboy....I can deal with that. Hate boots....can't put up with that. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
I'm a suit during business hours, but I grew up a cowboy. Under the suit, I'm still a cowboy at heart. I LOVE my boots. As Dan Seals once said,
I think God must be a cowboy at heart,
'cause he made wide open spaces from the start.
He made grass and trees and mountains
and a horse to be a friend
And trails to lead old cowboys home again.
My suits aren't nearly as comfortable as boots and jeans, and my office chair is nothing like a saddle. I have windows all along one wall in the office, but I can't see much of what God made - the stuff man made is in the way. I have to talk to a gazillion people every day. I could communicate with a horse without talking at all - a tug on the reins, a nudge, a scratch under the chin....an occasional spur in the flank. Man, I miss all that stuff.

I have three pair of Luccheses, all purchased during my visits to the fine Nation of Texas. And...I wear 'em with my suits.

SJennings, you must me a REAL cowboy, horses and all. The only horse I ride has 2 wheels and is made of steel. I guess I don't qualify either. But your still ok with me Jeremy!
ShaneJ
May-12-2005, 7:54pm
JML, I wear my boots w/the suit too sometimes. I have a tie tack that is a boot, so that keeps me grounded. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
ace, do you ride a horse or a hog? Bet you wear boots either way - maybe not cowboy boots, but good leather protection anyhow.
I doubt that I qualify as a REAL cowboy anymore. It would probably take me at least 5 tries to rope a steer, and even then I'd likely miss my dally.

I ride a motorcycle but its not a harley. Harley Davidson is the most greedy motorcycle company in the world. HD stands for hundred dollars because thats the least you will pay for anything for a bike that says HD on it. I do wear cowboy boots though. They work great for kicking the cock roaches in the corners at the state hospital I work at. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I like the round toe boots. They won't get the bugs in the corners, but there's not as much extra stuff to trip over.
