We just got our "revised" coverage Inland Marine Musical Instrument Floater. #When we looked it over it was riddled with mistakes. #Wrong serial numbers, amounts, dates, ages etc. #Unless you have the world's most forgiving carrier and we bet you don't, these are all problems that will deny you coverage if you should ever have to make a claim. Let's get off Gibson and get on insurers who are tickled to take your premiums (and cancel in a heartbeat if they don't) but are no where to be found come claims time. #They neglected to insure our two "New" old Gibsons. #Review your policies ASAP. #

Thanks, Karen. I would guess you checked into various companies that would insure instruments. Any other suggestions? There was one I read about a few years ago, but I can't remember it now (only it wasn't the company you mentioned).

It has been our experience (limited as it is) that most insurers will only validate claims that match up exactly with their records. #So, if they are mistaken, they refuse to pay off. #This has happened to us in car insurance especially. #This particular company is local to Kansas and not nationwide. #We have a "package" deal for our total insurance (including a 22 yr old son) so shopping this out would jepordize the deal. #Just be totally aware of what your carrier will and will not do in time of need. #You pay them to be insured not the other way around. #We have never heard of anyone having any experiences with mandolins specifically, but have no reason to believe that they would be any less problematic.
