I heard from CoMando thatGibson is planning a Roland White Sig. Model. With all the Martin CW's out there I think that Roland deserves his also. What is the the plan Joe? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Roland plays a cutom Gibson F5 and loves it. It is a great mandolin. He is most certainly deserving of anything he gets in this business. Roland is one of the finest people in the business and a good friend. It is always a joy to see him and he is an incredible mandolin player. That being said, I don't make the decision as to who gets a signature model. There are a couple of artists we are hoping to do a model for and he is certainly in the mix. When or if that may occur I cannot say. I will be happy to tell you when I know something. How's that for saying nothing?

My congressman, Dennis Cardoza a Democrat in a very Republican part of CA, would be proud of your ability to 'talk' without 'saying' anything. Good work Joe. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Personally, I'm waiting for Fender to make a Syd Barret signature Telecaster with the psychedlic swirlies and everything! Which one do you think will happen first? http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I thought Jimmy Page had the Psychedlic tele after Jeff Beck of " Yardbirds " fame...

We need a Frank Wakefield Gibson F5 too. Someday. Comes with its own can of red spray paint, bag of sand, and an Ezy Bake Oven so you can touch up the tone now and then. That'd be so cool.

I had the pleasure of playing Roland's (then) new Gibson last year at Nashcamp. Interestingly, Roland had requested laquer rather than varnish finish. (He also prefers a flat fretboard.) One day he surprised us all when we came into the practice room to find that he had put it into an empty, lined trash can! He considered that a safer place then leaning it somewhere.

I find it hard to believe that Roland gave up his old Randy Wood. It's a great sounding mandolin. The replacement must be something? A Roland White signature would be a good addition. Dan

For what it's worth, a friend of mine hung with Roland for awhile at Merlefest and Roland said a signature model was happening.
