View Full Version : M21V German spruce
Here's some pix of a new M21V hot off the list.
The customer wanted a rich dark sounding mandolin, hence the Bigleaf maple back.
I like the "mandolin size" quilt.

Hey Hans, what are you charging for a M21V these days (including deposit)? [Or is it considered rude to ask in public?]
Daniel
Michael, the bindng is tortoise.
Daniel, yes, but check your email. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hans - If you're still there I did get your messages - thanks - but for some reason I've been unable to respond. I suspect it's due to some filters here at my office. I'll call when I need more info. Thanks again. By the way - that's a beautiful mandolin.

Hans, That mandolin is beautiful! If it sounds half as good as it looks, it's a hoss!

Quite stunning, to say the least, and I particularly like the backside! That is a beautiful work of art.

Thanks folks! I'll have to give a lot of credit to the quilted maple. I haven't run across such small quilting in a long time. Don't use bigleaf much, but when the customer said dark tone...

Oh man this is killing me looking at Mr. Brentrup's magic. I had better start saving my pennies ...

I wish pennies were all it took...
But at least I've got the process in motion.
Hans - can you tempt us with a photo of one of your oval hole A styles ? I think it's called a model 20 ?

How does it sound? Does it sound like you expected?
Looks good, btw.

My o my.Hans you definately have a gift. There has got to be emmense personal satisfaction in seeing the reaction of intended owner after presentation---worth a million bucks and I know pics would not do it justice.Nice work. Lp

BTW -- I recently acquired an M21V from Hans in February and it is fantastic.
This instrument is beyond all expectations and he really nailed the tone I wanted.
No incentives on my part, just a very happy owner.
My next purchase will be his rendition of the F4, the model number constantly escapes me - my apologies Hans. My wife ( god bless her ) who almost had a heart attack when I told her I wanted to get the M21V, after hearing it, agreed to let me order another Brentrup in a year or two.

Again, thanks for the comments guys. John, it's what I expected from the combination of woods...rich, complex, and dark, although it is bright and new now. Still trying to get the strings broken in a little before sending it off. Wish someone would come up with pre-broken in J-74's.

I've got some old ones in the trash. I'll send them.
I just need to figure out what to charge for the "breaking in service". http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
