While at Disney World I saw two real mandolins at "It's a Small World" and an octave mandolin at "Pirates of the Carribian". Oh yeah, there were other instrument-looking things there too, but the mandolins seemed to be the real thing.
May even have a photo to post later. . . .
Anybody else notice these? Are they in California too?

They have these at Disney in Paris too! I couldn't believe how sad I was that whilst going through It's A Small World all I could think was, "What make of mandolin is that, then?".
Here's a pic I took at the time :
Awesome. Never been down to Disney World though. Guess i better go down there sometime.
Didn't Evan Marshall play at Disneyland?

They have a bluegrass show at the Golden Horseshoe saloon here in So CA. Guy plays a mando pretty well, I just could not get the make of it.

adgeFan got it! My "small world" boat must have been in too turbulent waters for my photo to come out. . . .
Yeah, and what make is it?

"Didn't Evan Marshall play at Disneyland? "
I dunno...
But John Jorgensen and Paul Shelasky are both Disneyland alumnus....

I heard Bill Bussmann and Walt used to be good buddies... I happen to have the evidence of that...

To Think,
Both times I was at Diz-Nee, we missed out on the small world ride....
Probably would Not have appreciated the mando-content at the time, however
Besides, that picture is a bit creepy. Maybe it is just the lighting, but it frightens me...... http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

I haven't checked out one of their shows lately; Billy Hill and the Hillbillies has certainly expanded!
Here's a Billy Fanpage! (http://www.ladydisneyland.com/pictures.html)
Evan Marshall appears to only play on certain nights (there are several lineups now). Last time I saw him he was playing great - though the intricacies of his duo-style technique seemed to be lost on the BBQ-rib-eatin' crowd..
My late sister (Del, if you haven't figured that out yet) used to run sound for the Billy Hill show, along with the Rhythm Brothers when they used to work for Uncle Walt (post Jorgenson).
Oh, and back OT, there are several "instruments" on display in Small World - old bowlbacks and lots of ukes.. Most of them are just toys - might have even been made by the prop department. But I seem to remember a bunch of Fluke ukes in there too.. It is kind of creepy looking at all those poor instruments in that dank environment..

I was at Dis world a couple years back and one of the wandering musical groups was a trio with a guitar style bass, guitar and a nice Epiphone F style. They played Django and other 30s tunes and a couple from the Disney collection. They were good.

Hey, just did a little more diggin' on that Billy Hill site (sorry, in full hijack mode now) and came upon this. (http://www.ladydisneyland.com/blueteam.jpg) Check out that Rickenbacker emando/tenor guitar/uke/whatsit in the upper left hand corner! Now I gotta go see Billy Blue!
