Has anyone ever seen any of these for sale? I got 2 of them in a close-out bin about 20 years ago, and they are the best clamps I've ever had. They have nylon clamping surfaces and even though the tiny tightening handle looks wimpy, you can put a good amount of force on with it. They are much more stable than the Quick-Grips I also use.
There's no brand name, just patent #'s and "made in England" stamped on them.
I have some of those Jim. They`re called Mole Rack Clamps and I`ve had mine for 30 years. I don`t think they`re made anymore, I`m not completely sure though. As you said they`re very well made clamps, mine have been worked hard in my furniture making years. Here`s a photo of the clamps I own.

Dang!
I didn't even know I was getting by without those!
First I find out that they exist, then I find out YOU CAN'T GET THEM ANYMORE! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

I found them HERE (http://www.lawson-his.co.uk/scripts/products.php?cat=Carver%20Rack%20Clamp) or at least something similar.

Hmmm...wonder if they'll ship them across the pond?
John... apparently they are a De-Sta-Co (http://www.techsavvy.com/industry/file/national/03tn8/des82.html?id=164312&comp_id=03TN8&base_region=*) manufactured item, but a Web search finds them almost exclusively sold in the UK. I did find a company called M.J. Vail (http://www.mjvail.com/destaco/destaco94.html) in NJ that carries them, but they don't have pricing online. Might be worth checking out.

Thanks Paul. I'll check those out. De-Sta-Co is usually good stuff, but not cheap!
Yeah... De-Sta-Co toggle and pneumatic clamps are pretty standard at any cabinet supply source, so I thought it was odd that there appear to be so few sellers of these clamps in the U.S.

Those aren't exactly the same. The main feature I like is the nylon head so you don't have to worry about cauls.

Something else you might wanna consider is that Harbor freight has some plastic clamps that have rubber feet and adjustable pressure on them. They sell for 2/$7.00 and are what I use on delicate areas. I save the heavy duty stuff for the bigger instruments. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mandosmiley.gif

Lee Valley carries these (http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=2&p=41709&cat=1,44047). Not exact but I would think they serve the same purpose and have the soft pads.
