Yo Yo Ma recorded with some great mandolin pickers about a year or so ago. I don't remember exactly who it was but in the neighborhood of players like Mike Marshall and Sam Bush.

Try adapting mandocello-mandolin duets (eg from Mike Marshall and Chris Thile's work). That's what I've done; I've got In Which Jesse Goes To Hualalai And Meets A Sea Urchin arranged for mando, cello, and piano (rather than mandola).

Btw, you probably shouldn't have posted this question in almost every forum http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

Norman Blake's "Thebes" from his "Directions" album was a classic original mandolin cello duet. I'm sure he has done others, some have rhythm guitar as well.

Check out Appalachin Journey by Yo Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer and Mark O'Connor. Unbelieveable album.
