Here's a heads up to everyone in the Baltimore/Washington DC area. This is not only an amazing opportunity to see some of the best practitioners of Bluegrass up close and personal but it's also going to benefit a family in need and help one of our own through some difficult times. I will be there helping out with a live recording and Eastman is going to donate a mandolin for auction which we hope to get signed by all attending (the label inside, not the mandolin itself - actually it will probably end up being several labels). If you can't make it try and be there in spirit by making a donation. See you all there.

ps. I think we are going to try and organize some parking lot picking beforehand and afterwards (weather permitting) and I'll bring a truckload of instruments to make things interesting.

Here's the info....

Dear Friends of Greg and Carol,
As you may know, mandolinist Greg Root suffered a stroke last spring and is courageously working toward a comeback. We are gathering on April 17th to celebrate Greg and Carol, play some great music and to raise money to make possible Greg's further rehabilitation. This is a chance for our musical community to come together for a friend in need. It will be a wonderful day of great Roots and Bluegrass Music, including: Good Deale Bluegrass Band w/Mike Auldridge, Walt Michael & Co. w/ Frank Orsini, Tom Wetmore & Marty Cutler, Martha Trachtenberg, Danny Weiss and Dede Wyland, Gary Ferguson w/ Jordan Tice, Jim Bienemann, & Jon Simmons, The Orchard Boys, Dave Giegerich & the Hula Monsters, Mike Garris & Area 51, Jack Sanbower and the No Leeway Band, Mitch Harrell & South River Express, Satyr Hill, Harry Orlove, Annapolis Bluegrass Coalition, Bob Perilla & Big Hillbilly Bluegrass
