I'm a beginner & am looking to purchase some instructional material & have been looking at Butch Baldassari's DVD as well as The Murphy Method & Burt Casey.
I'd appreciate some insight from those that have used any of these.

Hey,
I have a financial interest in this so take my advice for what it's worth. But I have a beginner/intermediate mandolin book Deluxe Bluegrass Mandolin Method for sale right now. Plus you get some good vibes for donating to the Symposium to top it all off. Worth a thought. Thanks,
Paul

You can't go wrong with the Butch Baldassari DVD. I also like Andy Statman's "Teach Yourself Bluegrass Mandolin" Book/CD.

At some point you will want to get Chris Thile's DVD. I would suggest sooner rather than later. Pay careful attention to pick grip and right hand technique. Start SLOW and establish proper technique. Speed will come later.
