Since seeing the Martin and Taylor owner threads,I decided I wanted to have some fun too. I have two vintage Gibsons. My first Gibson,( for the first 8 years I had it) was a 1968 Dove with 3 peice back with 'Navaho' inlay (which they only did for 18 months). That guitar was written off when I got it. I had to get it retopped by Byron Olson up in Saskatoon.( He's the smartest human I have ever shaken hands with. I saw him once build a large overhead router from parts scavenged from an industrial machine retirement depot. He was able to use it for 5 different processes in his shop. He built the whole thing from only a sketch on the back of a napkin.!) My newest Gibson is a 1952 Southern Jumbo, that came to my came into my hot little hands in about 10 peices. It took a long while to get it up and running, BUT I knew from the first chord, that I had a new best freind. It is a true Bluegrass Flatpicking Machine!...Kerry

I have a 1965 cherry-burst Gibson B-25 small body, with spruce top and mahogany back & sides. It's a sweet little guitar, but I haven't touched it for a while since I started playing mandolin a few years ago. It is currently on loan to one of my brothers who wants to learn guitar, who in turn lent me his violin so I could experiment with fiddle tunes.

Square-shouldered J-50 - serial no. 000002. I think it was made in the late 60s. Every player who's ever heard it loves the tone - me too. It's my go-to guitar.

I have my grandpa's old ('62) J-45. Just had it in the shop for fret job and to fix a few minor issues ( couple of small cracks, repair lose binding, new tuners) and it sounds and plays great.

Late '40s SJ, now in the shop to get a top crack repaired, maybe a little better finish. Previous owner put a different back on it, stripped the sunburst. At least the peghead went unmolested (scroll "Only a Gibson is good enough").
Also a '00 R9 Lester and a CS356 with a fat '50s neck, both darkish bursts.

Two '30s L00s- one blackface/tigerstriped pickguard/front and back binding with a 2X4 for a neck (1939), one sunburst mid-'30s with a cazillion repaired cracks & comfortable V-neck- somebody painted a room when the guitar was out of the case & it's got little roller splatters on the finish... #2 is in getting a tune-up, great tone.
Gave my D28 away when I got these little guys- great tone, even for flatpicking... fantastic fingerpickers...

Mine is a '97 J-60+ square-shouldered dread that has the AJ bracing pattern. A total tone-monster with a HUGE sound; a real shocker for most people that hear it.

I have my grandpaws old J50. It is a 1944 model I'm prety sure. It sound great and has this realy powerful puch to it. smooth tone and all but it needs a little set up to make it play just right. I'm afraid to set it up though, Afraid it will loose its sound.

You could fill a small (humidity controlled) warehouse with all these #fine instruments! I didn't expect a response like this, as fast as it has come. There seems to be a plethora of #30s, 40s, #and 50s Gibson acoustics owned by members.I'm wishing that either garage sale season were here, or that I had a million bucks dedicated to buying just acoustics. Who"s next?...Kerry

My first Gibson was a "The Paul" Les Paul shaped electric.Bought it new in "79.
It is all walnut with a flat body instead of being arched like the Standard or Custom.
My second is a J45 that based on the serial# is a "68 model(thus the "68" in my user name).
I love them both!
BTW I had a Martin user break a string at a pickin' one night and I handed him the J45 and he made me an offer for it!I said NO!http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif
