I have lots of my CD's ripped into Windows Media Player. I want to open songs from my hard drive directly in Transkriber, but they have to be MP3 or WAV.
Is it possible to convert from the Windows Media Player format to MP3 or WAV, or will I have to delete it all and re-rip every damn one of the CD's?
Little help!

Do a Google search for "wma to mp3" and you'll find more tools for that conversion than you could imagine. I've used exactly none of them myself, so I wouldn't know which to recommend. No doubt you can find a freeware or inexpensive shareware tool that will do what you need.

Duh..........
I don't know why I didn't think of that myself. Anyway, thanks for the help.

get a different application (software). I think wmp sucks. something like musicmatch is decent, for storage as well as coversions.

i don't know if you guys like it or not but www.download.com has a lot of stuff.
Do a search for
CDex
It is a free ripper and converter, a great program with a lot of built in features.
jc
go to www.zdnet.com
search for jetaudio in their "downloads".
i believe it will convert almost anything to WAV. then, you can use the "audacity" software to convert to MP3. those are both free and can be found at zdnet.com.
hope that helps . .

So, while I can choose to rip songs into Win Med Player in the MP3 format, I cannot convert from one format to the other using Win Med Player after it's already on the hard drive.
Correct?

DB PowerAmp (http://www.dbpoweramp.com/) is becoming my favorite- it plays anything, it converts anything, it's free, it includes an equalizer to enhance the sound, and it doesn't take up tons of space like Musicmatch.
I've had nothing but trouble with the last 2-3 versions of Musicmatch, enough that I finally removed it from my system.
try it, you might like it. Usual disclaimers- no interest, financial or otherwise in the folks who developed it, other than that I appreciate them.
