I know there was a topic on the centerline of the neck a couple months ago, but I've not been able to find it. I know F5-journal said Loars are off toward the scroll. Can anybody make this clear to me? I'm taking to make pexli-glass template and I want to get it as close as possible. I'm doing a drawing in cad and I need help! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/rock.gif

I must have asked the wrong question or something? I guess I should have asked in what manner do ya'll line up the centerline with the neck and body? Any hints or suggest.

There's some controversy about whether or not the center of the neck was lined up with the center of the body on the Loars.
I don't know for sure one way or the other.
I line up my center lines, but I'm not building Loar replicas.

Same here, I just base everything off of the glue joint in the top.

Andrew,
Exactly what one would do. I think in my opinion that all the hype of trying to duplicate the good things and the bad of the Loar era is a waste of peoples ability to do things in their own way. Why keep trying to do things of the past in ways that are, in spite of ourselves, influenced by the ways of today...CAD/CAM,,CNC,etc...The things that are now being built are not the same and every one knows that. It just seems that every one wants to hope that they will find the Holy Grail..It doesn't exist..You have to do it for yourself in your way. And at least try to be origional..G

I have reset necks on pre-Loar Fs and they were off-center. I don't see why such a design feature has to be imitated however.
