Here's a thread from the Tacoma guitar discussion site about a bloke who has been caught in between a dealer and Fender. Seems he put a deposit on a Tacoma guitar before Fender bought it, but he can't get Tacoma to deliver it or the dealer to return his deposit.

One commentator says that Fender didn't buy Guild and Tacoma to run them down. That might be true, but branding is the name of game in this globalized world, not production. I own a Tacoma guitar and like it, and I am looking at a new mando, but I think I'll not be looking at Tacomas.

I would not arbitrarily refuse to look at Tacomas or anything else. If you find an instrument that you feel is is right for you, you should buy it, (that specific one, not one "just like it" that's going to be different) regardless of brand name, or who made or or where it comes from or whether it is new or used.
