Does anyone have or know where I could find the tab for this song? I think it's a fantastic sound, but I just don't have the talent to pick it up yet. Any help would be much appreciated.

Steve: #I love that song as well. #But I have no idea where the music would be for it. #However, I did find the full lyrics on Tim's website http://www.timobrien.net/Lyrics2.cfm?ID=67

I play this song - I like it a little better on guitar than mandolin. If you want to learn Tim and Darrell's mando riffs you'll have to learn em yourself...but here are the general chords:

verse:

D G
i put one foot in front of the other
D G
steppin into the here and now
D G
i'm not sure just where i'm goin
A G D
but i will get there any how

i got this far with no direction
i follow my nose to where i stand
my heart's still strong and i know i'll make it
to sit right down in the promised land

chorus:
F C Dm Dm
sister come and walk beside
F C Dm A
until our pathways do divide
Bb F C Dm
nothing much but love, to give you
Bb F C A
even less than i

when you left me in the springtime
so many questions in my mind
summer came and it left me waiting
not one answer could i find

i saw you out in the rocky mountains
i felt you on the great north sea
it's a lonesome road that i have to travel
but you will always be with me

<chorus>
brother come and walk beside
until our pathways do divide
nothing much but love, to give you
even less than i

i hear laughter in the thunder
i feel comfort in the wind
i see hope in hopeless faces
that one day they will love again

people come and walk beside
until our pathways do divide
nothing much but love, to give you
even less than i
x2

i put one foot in front of the other
steppin into the here and now
i'm not sure just where i'm goin
but i will get there any how

I'd also try F C Dm for the second half of the verse and make sure all those D chords are actually Dmin translated:

verse:

Dm # # # # # # # G
i put one foot in front of the other
Dm # # # # # # # G
steppin into the here and now
Dm # # # # # # # G
i'm not sure just where i'm goin
F # # # # # C # # # # Dm
but i will get there any how

I agree, this is a great tune/song and I have spent some time in front of the speakers trying to play along.
I would find it a little difficult to tab out or play "the" one part, because there are two parts on the recording (Darrell Scott on mando, and Tim O'Brien on octave mando) which harmonize as well as play in counterpoint and weave in and out. On the instrumental verse, they play the following variation:
Dm G
Dm F - F# - G
Dm G
A G Dm

Thanks guys--I appreciate the help. Now I just have to see if I can flail around and figure out those awesome breaks. It is a cool song.
