I'm interested in an amp for performing: me on mandolin; a friend on guitar, and we sing. How about the Taxi amps by Crate?

I am going to have give a big NO. For one, those are not designed for acoustic instruments. For two, when I see the word Crate on any acoustics I run! Save up the money and get a Trace Elliot or an Ashdown acoustic amp.

Are you looking for a battery powered amp to play in situations where there is no electrical outlet? If so the Taxi is a good choice.

Which model? the 'Limo', is a bit more PA like, then theres us made Carvin.
Carvin has a battery powered PA 4 channel mixer, that can sit on a speaker stand, up, where it can be heard,: carvin.com, 4 channels , 2 apiece for a duet.

Nick never answered, but he wants something that's battery-powered, so an SWR is out. Over on the Acoustic Guitar forum, the Taxis are getting pretty high ratings for acoustics. I think the only battery-powered amps I've heard that are really good are extremely expensive - as in over $1000.

I used to own a Maxy mouse, electro harmonix .single channel, another a find In a pawnbrokers surprise inventory somewhere .
mine went to Micronesia.
AER makes one of those,a pricy battery model, 60w.
Carvin stagemate $4oo, 100w ad $50 for digital reverb card .
12v , can add a patch to the car's battery.
