I hope it doesn't offend anyone for me to post this. I don't want to step on our hosts' toes either but something I am sometimes guilty of is forgetting that some very young people who are also mando enthusiasts use this site regularly.
Today a very distasteful link was posted that was quickly eliminated by the moderators. Good work!!
I am sure that the member who posted it meant no harm whatsoever and was just pointing out something that would have been of interest to some of the regulars.
I am no angel and no prude either and sometimes forget about the kids who are reading and viewing the posts.
Just a friendly reminder.
I will also try to heed my own advice but ya know,,, sometimes I just forget. http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I have no idea what the link was and I also have no idea what you consider distasteful. Please send me the link. I could use a laugh today.

Was it the Milla thread?

I completely agree with the original poster... hopefully the issue has been resolved.
Scott, as someone who was recently the victim of a griefer online, I know what you are going through and I hope that everything works out.

It would be a stretch to label the Milla thread (the one from several weeks ago) as "distasteful"!

I believe that atetone is referring to the ex-member with grudge thread from Sunday. It's probably better to let this one die quickly.

I wasn't trying to start a thread to rehash anything and the content of the link doesn't matter. (I have no knowledge of the Milla thread)
It was just a friendly reminder. No controversy intended.
Hopefully that's the way it will be taken.

Good work. Lp

Thanks atetone. If something isn't fitting for kids, it's probably not fitting period anyway.

braccio, Yes Pete I agree,,, the sooner this one dies the better.
I am sorry I even mentioned it. I should have figured that it would turn into a thread about the content of the link, not the reminder as intended.
My mistake. Sorry.

I am no fan of porn on the web, but I am a fan of free speech and free thought and I don't find the female form "distasteful." I thought the Milla link was interesting and on-point for this forum. Given that Milla is a mandolin-playing recording artist and posed with a mandolin, if the Mandolin Cafe' can't let the world know about it, who can? The link also came with adequate warning of the nature of the picture for the squeamish. If you are squeamish, why did you ignore the warning and look at it anyway? Also, if anyone imagines web-enabled minors can't find much worse at click of the mouse, they are living under a rock. The responsibility for protecting minors is the parents' and the vaules they instill, not censors, and especially not self-appointed censors. Finally, Scott T. posted the link and this is his site. A person's choice if they don't like is to log off.

Um, this isn't about the Millia thread. If you want details PM me, but I *really* think this thread needs to die ASAP....

Yeah, he said she had a beautiful body and she held it against him! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

Yeah, that is a fact. Of the 4 topical discussion boards that I peruse somewhat regularly, this is by far and wide the cleanest. That's ok - there's room for a little whole wheat in this world - but it would be a shame if it were taken too far. Besides, the best way to make a post disappear is to not respond. It only takes a day of people ignoring a post (at least in the Gen. Mando disc. forum) for it to be buried forever, to eventually turn into coal someday... Are kids likely to be offended/shocked/scarred by reading some bickering? I'd say bored is more like it.

The thread in question had a link #to an ebay auction that is no longer on that site. #If you missed it you are out of luck...

The seller was a disgruntled former cafe member. #Continuing this thread is just giving him indirect attention.

WHEW! Thank goodness that's all it was. I was gone a coupla days and busy since I've been back. Thought I had missed something good! (Like a bad car wreck - you don't wanna look, but you just havta'.)

It's interesting - I've spent a little time on the tapeop.com message board and the Cafe board is way cleaner and more respectable in comparison. On the other end, on Mike's Oud page forum, the members are almost annoyingly polite! Maybe because most oud posters aren't American! http://www.mandolincafe.net/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/unclesam.gif
Just an observation. (An oud is a ten-string instrument from the lute family)
