Flatiron 3MW Mandola 1984 SN# 8409226
The banjo killer. This mandola can be heard in the next room, and the room after that. I play this instrument two ways - I play it capo 2 and down a string, so it sounds an octave below the mandolin, and I play it to accompany the melody instruments, without capo. I have recently started teaching myself to read alto clef, to play directly off the page in quartet situations. (I also practice some of my tenor guitar chords on it, shhhh.)
I sold this lovely instrument to a friend of mine last year, and when I seem him playing it I get all nostalgic. He let me play it the other day. It still sounds great.
