Description:	Hello, My name is Tristan Scroggins, Two-Time New Mexico State Mandolin Champion and son of banjo virtuoso, Jeff Scroggins. I've been playing mandolin for 5 1/2 years now and despite my age, I have won a variety of mandolin/talent competitions for the short time I've been playing. I currently hold two State Championship titles (New Mexico and Arizona) and in 2008, I placed first in the NM State Youth Instrumental Contest. I just move to Colorado with my father and lost my New Mexico student base. Now, I wish to fill it with eager mandolin players for all around the Eastern CO area ranging from beginner to intermediate level players. Courses will be based on what you (the student) and I decide is best suited for your current ability whether you‮re just beginning to play or if your just beginning to look at theory. Description:	I'll be teaching an 8-week series on the music of Turlough O'Carolan held Thursday evenings for 8 weeks starting January 21, ending on March 11, 2010, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. (time subject to minor change depending upon the needs of class participants and where they're driving from). You must register prior to or on the evening of the first class on January 21. No walk-in attendees after that time. An extension of this course (another 8-week class) with new music will be available starting in early April and announced at a later date. We'll brush up on basic mandolin lead playing and chord form basics using the music or Irish composer Turlough O'Carolan. We'll cover approximately 2-3 tunes per session in standard notation and tablature. Be prepared to play a lot of music in a group ensemble. One focus of the class is using fuller lead lines to expand your musical vocabulary and make your playing more interesting. Upon completion of the course you will have nice collection of music and a better understanding of the mandolin. I am also accepting a limited number of individual mandolin students, all levels for lessons in the general Kansas City area.

Description:	I'm a Beginner/intermediate player looking for an experienced instructor near Ft Hood for one on one, and possibly group instruction. I have an F4, so I'd like some instruction which focuses more on melodic play than rhythm (but my rhythm technique could definitely use some work). Not sure what styles I want to learn, but am interested in Celtic, Bluegrass, and Gypsy, and possibly Texas Swing (I know that's all over the place, as far as style goes, but It all sounds good to me.) One Caveat, I'm in the military, so i'll need a bit of flexibility as far as scheduling goes, as my work schedule is erratic at best. Thanks!
